Based on Yamaha's popular FG series, the FGC-TA features a solid Sitka spruce top, mahogany back and sides and a comfortable dreadnought cutaway body. Its newly designed scalloped bracing provides a louder, richer acoustic response, while the cutaway offers easy access to the upper frets.

TransAcoustic Technology

The defining feature of the FGC-TA is Yamaha's groundbreaking TransAcoustic technology.

An integrated actuator is installed inside the guitar and responds to the natural vibrations of the strings. These vibrations are transferred through the guitar's body and into the surrounding air, creating authentic-sounding Reverb and Chorus effects directly from the instrument itself.

Unlike conventional acoustic guitars with built-in effects, the FGC-TA doesn't need an external amplifier or speaker to experience its onboard effects.

Reverb & Chorus Without an Amplifier

The FGC-TA features simple controls for creating an inspiring ambient sound.

The onboard controls allow you to adjust:

The reverb setting can be switched between Room and Hall, giving you the choice between a more intimate ambience and a larger, spacious acoustic environment.

A Dreadnought Built for Rich Acoustic Tone

The FGC-TA combines a traditional dreadnought body with a comfortable cutaway design.

Its solid Sitka spruce top delivers a responsive acoustic voice, while the mahogany back and sides contribute warmth, body and a balanced tonal response.

Yamaha has also developed a new scalloped bracing pattern, based on acoustic analysis and Yamaha's research and development work. The result is a louder and more powerful response, particularly through the low and mid frequencies.

The cutaway body design makes it easier to reach the higher frets, giving players more freedom for lead lines, melodic passages and extended chord voicings.

The FGC-TA can also function as a conventional acoustic-electric guitar when connected to an amplifier, PA system or other external equipment.

The integrated System70 + SRT Piezo pickup system allows you to take the FGC-TA's natural acoustic tone and onboard TransAcoustic effects into a live performance environment.

A cable connection also provides access to the line output, with the dedicated control allowing you to adjust the output volume.

Simple, Intuitive Controls

Yamaha has kept the control system straightforward with three discreet controls:

Chorus Control
Adjusts the intensity of the onboard chorus effect.

Reverb Control
Controls the reverb level, with Room and Hall settings available depending on the knob position.

TA Switch / Line Out Volume
Press and hold the TA switch for more than 0.3 seconds to activate the TransAcoustic function. When a cable is connected to the line output, the same control adjusts the output volume.
